Comfy Cozy
36x36 in. Oil painting
For many people, our bedroom is a safe place. It is where we go to retreat from the outside world, to find comfort in the warm embrace of our beds, a place where we are surrounded by the specially curated collection of things that bring us joy. I personally have a more complicated relationship with my bedroom. My room is where I go for peace, it is where I go for relief, where I go to hide, where I go to rest or be restless, it is where I go to feel. My bed has borne witness to my greatest joys and pains, it has kept me safe, it has been unsafe, it is home to my deepest comforts and despairs. This space has confined me, it has housed me, it has been the keeper of my secrets. To have all of these feelings enclosed in one singular space may seem contradictory to some, but as humans we contain multitudes and our designated spaces are where we house them.
